This is an exciting opportunity to work for Amazon, supporting dynamic, high impact events taking place in a large production venue in the new Cape Town campus. The candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills, be customer obsessed, and be energetically driven to support our customers and the team.
In this role, the Event Producer provides assessment, planning, and operational management of events in Cape Town.
They are the primary point of contact for the customer, responsible for the booking assessment, planning, on-site operations, show calling, live event operations, and post-production requirements.
The successful candidate will come from an events background and have the ability to work across multiple teams and cultures.
Key job responsibilities
• Point of contact (POC) for team, event organizers, production engineers, livestream technicians and vendors.
• Daily customer communication support and management
• Manages meetings effectively; provides supporting documentation and aligns stakeholders
• Develop, document and maintain standards and drive process improvements.
• Seeks opportunities to help others improve skillsets and knowledge base
• Able to identify blockers, and facilitate progress
A day in the life
Pre-event:
• Leads planning meetings with customers and team to confirm final event details
• Provides production guidance to customers and team
• Leads scheduling of production resources, services, and any post-production requests
• Communication with facility partners; Security, Housekeeping, Catering, etc.
• Event show-flow preparation and distribution to internal teams
• Manages any necessary technical testing or technical rehearsals
Event delivery:
• Act as dedicated onsite POC for customers and organizers, including production team and third-party vendors
• Leads event day show flow, and acts as the production show caller
• Provides direction of relevant facility operations
• Partner with the Systems Engineer to manage technical needs
Post-event:
• Manages post-event reporting
• Manages post-event customer needs and meetings
• Provides key metrics and data to team and management
About the team
The Event Production team provides high quality support to internal Amazon customers. The team consists of engineers and system engineers who work daily with the installed production equipment, helping to plan and execute each event within the space. The Event Production team culture is built around providing quality customer support for each event, and works to customize each event to provide the maximum results for each customer.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of experience in live event production or event management
- Proficiency with audio, video, lighting and staging systems
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams
- 2+ years experience leading teams of (2-12 people)
- 2+ years knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, event planning platforms and calendaring systems
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Raises the bar with both verbal and written documentation
- Able to clearly communicate and collaborate with team members and customers in a corporate environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, and demonstrated ability to improve processes
- Able to step in to stage management and/or backstage management as needed
- Experience opening new event venues, studios, or production related services
