Job Title: Financial Accountant – SAIPA Registered
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant who is a registered member of the South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA). The chosen candidate will be responsible for providing accurate financial information to management, stakeholders, and external auditors. They will ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and facilitate the optimisation of financial planning and analysis processes.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, examine, and analyze financial statements, reports, and records to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations. Manage and oversee the daily accounting operations, including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and tax filings. Review and reconcile monthly financial reports, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or irregularities. Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis, providing insightful recommendations to management. Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to internal controls and procedures, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions. Liaise with external auditors during the year-end audit and assist in the completion of annual financial statements and tax returns. Monitor and analyse financial data, identifying trends and opportunities for cost savings, profit enhancement, and process improvements. Stay updated with changes in financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws, ensuring compliance and providing guidance to the organization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial advice, support, and analysis for decision-making processes. Implement and maintain effective financial systems, processes, and workflows, utilizing technology and software applications to streamline operations. Provide guidance, coaching, and training to junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Qualifications and Skills: SAIPA registration is mandatory. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, & financial reporting standards (IFRS, GAAP) Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with numerical data. Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office (especially MS Excel). Knowledge of tax regulations and experience in tax compliance. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, meeting deadlines with accuracy. Strong ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information.
