CONTROLLER JOB DESCRIPTIONS OF A CREDIT MANAGER
Your main duties will include :
There should be a close liaison between the credit control department and the marketing /sales department so that credit issues are resolved smoothly.
Checking customer's credit situation
Running necessary credit checks
Ensuring the terms and conditions of the receivable and payable balances are managed
Ensure that account maintenance is kept always updated
Dealing with internal and external queries about payments, ensuring customers pay on time and negotiating re-payment plans
Ensure all queries are resolved within the turnaround time
Chase overdue invoices
Maintain accurate records of all chasing activity
Regularly contacting high profile customers to ensure all relevant debts and queries are managed as necessary
Identify changes in payment patterns and propose action to avert indebtedness
Ensure that all transactions are compliant with Company's policies
Provide accurate advice on all queries
Propose write off irrecoverable receivables
Ensure all standard reporting deadlines are met
Providing ad-hoc reporting as and when requested by senior management in terms of month end reports and adhoc reports
Undertake account reconciliations as required
Management of key accounts
Approving and releasing of orders
Liaising with suppliers
Supplier reconciliations
Other duties as delegated from time to time by the Senior Management Team or any other person designated in their absence
If any customers stop paying or pay late, then it's your responsibility to ensure the necessary interaction is taken and that senior management is kept abreast of the situation
You are expected to regularly review the company's debt recovery procedures.
Ensure credit limits are managed accordingly
Always minimise risk
May be required to work additional time at month end or when required by the company
Good interpersonal skills for building customer relations both internal and external
Must have good time management skills for management of a credit and orders team
Must handle diversity and conflict reasonably well
Be willing to accept change in rules and policies as the company deems necessary.
