Job Description
A renewable energy developer and investor who develops, owns, constructs and operates utility scale and small scale renewable energy projects is currently recruiting a CEO to lead their company.
Minimum Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction
•Minimum of 10 years’ experience industry experience within renewable energy or power utilities
•Minimum 5 years senior level managerial experience.
•At least 8 – 10 years’ experience in the South African Renewable Energy Project Development and/or EPC Sales Sector.
•Strong existing network in the South African renewable energy sector, its drivers, KPIs and decision processes
•A strong commercial mindset with a solid knowledge of Project and Corporate Finace concepts
•Detailed understanding of design and operation of modern protection relay technology and substation automation and its application through to commissioning.
•Detailed understanding of design of primary electrical plant in transmission and distribution substations.
•Tender & Project process & procedure.
•Risk Management Knowledge.
Your KPIs will include:
•Origination of and closing sales of EPC services for Solar PV for both government (REIPPPP) and Private PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) opportunities.
•Remain competitive in the REIPPPP and private PPA markets.
•Identify, engage and sell services to IPP’s and energy intensive users where possible.
•Participate in and secure projects in South African government tenders.
•Ongoing general market intelligence – pricing, regulatory, risks etc.
•Work with our partners to identify new business models and channels to open the private sector uptake of renewables projects, be it via direct PPAs, wheeling arrangements, or direct capital investment types of deals with related financing arrangements.
•Oversight of the structuring of transactions while interfacing closely with the specific project team members.
•Coordinating all aspects of the deal execution process, including negotiations and finalization of all project and financing agreements.
•Supporting the optimization of any bid scorecard, as required.
•Develop an understanding of the competitive position of thermal and storage technologies and related models and strategies, to inform whether to compete or collaborate as appropriate.
•Required to carry out other duties that are in essence part of his/her area of activity, according to his/her knowledge and abilities.
•Perform risk assessments and identify risk mitigation strategies.
•Manage all legal risks by guiding the business in handling legal disputes to minimize company exposure to financial and reputational risks.
•Provide training and coaching to internal stakeholders on contractual matters.
•Management, mentoring, training and provide guidance to the team.
•Actively finding and developing mechanisms to improve Team effectiveness
•Provide the team with accurate data to enable the deliverance of accurate commercial information and high-quality services.
