Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience, including four (4) years experience in collection and disposal and interacting with the public; or
- Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, project management or related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in solid waste collection and disposal and interacting with the public.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures enforcement of ordinances and contracts related to the collection and disposal of solid waste.
- Inspects sites, performs quality control, and coordinates related recordkeeping.
- Conduct compliance inspections; enforce Cape Coral solid waste and recycling ordinances by issuing warnings, citations, and notices of violation; organize and keep accurate and detailed records of ongoing enforcement files.
- Performs educational hazardous waste assessments; educates businesses on proper management of hazardous, regulated, and universal waste; promotes pollution prevention practices that would further reduce negative impacts to the environment.
- Monitors proper collection and disposal of solid waste through field supervision by monitoring contract performance and ensuring that routes are completed properly.
- Investigates complaints from residential and commercial businesses; handles request for action complaints and interacts with other departments and haulers to resolve any issues that may arise.
- Investigates complaints from City Executive Management, Council, 311 Call Center, and other Departments and Franchised Haulers.
- Works closely with law enforcement and code enforcement on identifying abandoned and derelict vessels and coordinates contractors for their removal.
- Perform other related duties as required.
