Job Description
A Client Portfolio Director at Zenith is expected to take overall responsibility for the team, running the day-to-day operations as well as the strategic outputs for the unit. This individual needs to have strong account management, team management, and client management skills.
A high level of collaboration, a willingness to teach others, and a real desire to push boundaries is expected. This role requires a high level of accountability and responsibility over the large offline and online media investments we are entrusted to manage. Some working outside standard hours may be necessary.
Job Purpose:
- Manage and produce quality work in line with agency processes and global tools.
- Oversee the delivery of clear, innovative strategies at a senior level.
- Assist with media negotiations if necessary.
- Ensure teams (Offline and Online) consolidate flow plans into one flow plan.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies.
- Manage client relationships at all levels in the business.
- Manage team: motivate, mentor, and discipline if necessary.
- Ensure seamless work with ATL and digital strategists on the business.
- Develop other strategists in the team or Groupe.
- Work on New Business Pitches as required.
- Manage general work output quality from the business unit.
- Manage the end-to-end financials of your accounts.
- Report regularly to the Managing Director.
Hard KPI Scores:
- Accurate invoice packs delivered to clients to meet payment cycles.
- Financial Performance: Over-dues at no more than 9.5% of book outstanding per month.
- Revenue Growth: 5% increase in revenue through fees or selling diversified services.
- Key client satisfaction: Client appraisals at 75% average, no less than 70% for a single discipline.
- Client retention: No loss of local business in the next 24 months.
- Effective representation of Publicis Media: Stay abreast of international and local trends.
- Bi-annual thought-leadership/opinion piece either written or delivered in a presentation.
- Talent & Culture: Less than 20% loss of staff, all appraisals done per company policy.
- New Business: Assist with new business pitches (experience in pitching).
- Awards: Enter two awards annually.
- Set and track spend objectives for ETV, SABC, Media 24, OOH, and others.
What You Can Expect in an Average Week:
- Meetings: Be present and on time to all required meetings.
- Media briefings.
- Client presentations.
- Internal status meetings.
- Client status meetings.
Drive implementation of strategies with strategists and planners. Work collaboratively with our Zenith team, Publicis Media Digital Team, and creative agency partners. Ensure overarching portfolio flow plans are maintained and fed into the planners. Work with the Research & Insights team to pull and graph required data, source research, and case study documents. Ensure that your timesheets are maintained and updated timely.
Experience:
- Senior Media Specialist with a minimum of 7 years media experience, with a thorough understanding of ATL and Digital media.
- Experience in Africa.
- Thorough understanding of all planning and buying processes.
- Experience managing teams.
Hard Skills:
- Numerically strong and analytically able.
- Strong communicator with effective interpersonal relationships across team and clients.
- Advanced IT skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and web-based applications.
- Ability to cross-tabulate data in Telmar/Ariana, TGI/GWI or other cross-tabulation software.
- Ability to synthesize and reduce different inputs to create a well-considered and accurate view.
- English fluency for effective business writing.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Solid data interpretation and analytics skills.
- Ability to exercise strategic principles and structured thinking in business development projects.
- Ability to select appropriate frameworks and tools to solve client problems.
- Develop strategies that interpret cultural and social trends as well as data relevant to client business.
