Our client is a global producer, marketer and provider of technology-driven natural ingredients, ingredient systems and integrated solutions for the food and beverage industry. They are looking for an experienced Application / Product Developer to join their team.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Developing new recipes for customer- and innovation projects, matching products and further development of existing recipes. Part of a team in the Application Laboratory that must meet project goals by developing commercially viable products, preparing application samples, recording information and creating documentation accurately.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of application samples and performing analytical checks on development samples
- Selecting and sampling flavors for customer requirements
- Research of new ingredients
- Develop formulations, keeping costs and raw material sustainability in mind and liaising with QA, Sourcing and Production departments in this respect
- Coordinating and keeping record of samples coming in and going out of the laboratory
- Liaising with suppliers regarding raw material documentation and samples
- Managing development projects and organising of project information
- Formulation of new products, line extensions or matches as per brief
- Sensory evaluation
- Compiling technical documentation and complete production handover
- Ensuring Good Laboratory Practice is maintained in the Application Laboratory
- Ensuring flavor library is organized and up to date
- Attending factory trials when requested, both in-house and on customer premises
- Creating and maintaining recipes in SAP
- Collaborating with Technical Project Manager and Sales on all development projects
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12
- BSc/National Diploma in Food Technology, Food Science or related qualification
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 2 – 5 Years’ work experience in a Product Development/Application position where the focus was on Beverage Development (Alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
- South African Food Legislation knowledge is required, as is the tasting of a variety of Beverage products, specifically Alcoholic products
- SAP experience
