Program and Position Overview : LJI's anti-human trafficking model focuses on transit monitoring. We identify, intercept, and assist trafficking victims as they are being transported—when victims and traffickers are the most visible and open to detection—and before they reach the destination where victims will be sold, hidden, and abused. Because the crime of trafficking has already commenced, we have access to actionable intelligence which can be used to assist police in the apprehension of suspects and to better understand trafficking methods. To date, we have intercepted over 64,000 individuals to prevent them from being trafficked. More than 1,500 arrests have stemmed from our anti-trafficking work with 36% of closed cases resulting in convictions.
The Anti-Trafficking Project Coordinator will play a key supporting role in assisting the Senior Director of Anti-Trafficking supporting the development and implementation of projects in the anti-trafficking department. Responsibilities include project administration, research and data collection, communication/training material design, and meeting and event coordination, all while ensuring compliance with LJI’s policies and standards. This role requires a highly agile, organized and diligent individual with strong cross-cultural communication skills to effectively support the Senior Director and the broader anti-trafficking team.
The Anti-Trafficking Project Coordinator will report to the Anti-Trafficking Director. This position will be based in Ballito, South Africa, with full-time work expected from the designated office. Some flexibility is required to adjust working hours to meet project deadlines and participate in meetings outside of regular office hours and in different timezones. Additionally, the position may involve travel to various field locations as needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities : The primary duties and responsibilities of the the AT Project Coordinator are the following:
Project Management Support (±30%) - Support a diverse remote team, partner organizations and stakeholders globally, including:
- Follow up on projects and tasks related to the anti-trafficking team.
- Provide administrative and project management support to the team.
- Ensure compliance with the Love Justice core process framework.
- Assist in setting up new country projects and supporting new partners and staff.
Special Projects Management (±20%) - Initiate and manage special projects from inception to completion, including:
- Develop project plans and manage timelines for project execution.
- Conduct research, surveys and audits to support project development and implementation.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare reports and presentations on project data and outcomes.
Administrative Assistance (±50%) - Provide comprehensive support to the Senior Director of Anti-Trafficking, including:
- Organize and schedule meetings, including minutes and follow-up.
- Coordinate special events including workshops, gatherings, and field trips.
- Prepare and maintain reports and documentation.
- Develop materials for partners, including reports and presentations.
- Draft and distribute internal and external communications as needed.
- Design communications to enhance and promote various initiatives.
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders.
- Assist with the onboarding of new team members.
