We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Financial Manager for our client they will assist the CFO in managing the financial activities. The Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations, managing financial reporting, supporting strategic financial planning, and ensuring the company’s financial health. The role requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of the manufacturing sector’s financial needs.
Key Responsibilities: - Financial Reporting :
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly management accounts, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist the CFO with financial presentations for senior management and the board of directors.
- Manage financial closing processes, ensuring compliance with reporting standards (IFRS, etc.).
Budgeting and Forecasting :
- Support the CFO in the preparation of the annual budget and rolling forecasts.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and provide variance reports.
- Work with department heads to ensure their financial forecasts align with operational goals.
Cost Management :
- Oversee the costing system and ensure accurate allocation of costs to products and projects.
- Implement cost control measures and identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the manufacturing processes.
- Monitor and report on manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and margin analysis.
Cash Flow :
- Assist the CFO in managing cash flow and forecasting future cash needs.
- Monitor working capital, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory levels.
Compliance and Risk Management :
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal financial policies.
- Manage audits, both internal and external, and liaise with auditors to resolve issues.
- Support the CFO in identifying and mitigating financial risks to safeguard the company’s assets.
Financial Systems and Processes :
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data through the use of Syspro and financial management software.
- Continuously improve financial systems, processes, and controls in collaboration with the CFO.
- Assist with the integration of new systems and technology in line with business needs.
Team Leadership and Development :
- Manage and develop a team of financial accountants and clerks.
- Provide mentorship and training to staff, ensuring a high-performing and motivated finance team.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the finance department.
Support for Strategic Decision-Making :
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support key business decisions and strategies.
- Collaborate with the operations and manufacturing teams to align financial objectives with business goals.
- Assist the CFO with mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic projects as required.
Tax and Regulatory Filings :
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns and other regulatory submissions.
- Stay updated on tax legislation and advise the CFO on tax planning strategies.
Key Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, or CPA.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of financial management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in financial management systems (Syspro will be an advantage)
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting standards (IFRS).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Skills and Competencies: - Ability to work closely with the CFO and senior management to align financial strategies with company objectives.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel) and financial software systems.
- Strong understanding of the manufacturing sector’s financial drivers, including cost accounting and inventory management.
