Location: Hybrid - A blend of working from home and your nominated hub office, we have hubs in London, Bristol, Manchester and Oxford. Specific patterns for working in the office are not mandated, and the frequency of time worked in the office is agreed with your manager. About the team:
The Privacy team is part of the Jisc Legal team within the Strategy and Corporate Services directorate of Jisc and the Privacy adviser will work under supervision of the Head of Privacy & DPO.
The Privacy team is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, guidelines and procedures applicable to the business to ensure compliance with the UK GDPR and other relevant legislation.
About the role:
In this role you will be advising on a full range of data privacy matters, including regulatory compliance, data protection impact assessments, privacy notices, data subject requests, contracts (including SCCs, IDTAs, DPAs and DSAs), GDPR compliance, data protection by design and international data flows.
Responsibilities will include:
• Responsible for leading technical aspects of Privacy. Primarily acting as the technical owner for the OneTrust Privacy Management Platform, ensuring ongoing configuration, development, and implementation of Data Mapping, Assessment Automation, DSAR, and Risk, to support compliance with data protection requirements and risk management.
• Liaising with business process owners on the data protection aspects of Jisc’s business initiatives and activities including carrying out pre-screening, reviewing Privacy Screening Questionnaires (PSQs), carrying out Data Protection Impact Assessments, identifying privacy risks and mitigations, and updating the Jisc Record of Processing Activity (ROPA), across Vendor, Asset, Entity, and Processing Activity, and ensuring integrity of relationships and accuracy of data map.
• Acting as technical privacy SME for transformation and other Jisc projects, providing tailored, practical data protection advice and guidance to the project team(s) to ensure privacy by design and default is factored into the project(s).
• Monitoring compliance and data practices internally to ensure business areas and functions comply with the applicable requirements under the UK GDPR and other relevant legislation.
Key Skills and Experience:
• Demonstrable experience of supporting and developing data protection processes and organisational policy recommendations.
• Proven experience using OneTrust or similar system is essential.
• Experience of building strong relationships and networks.
Qualifications:
• A practitioner certificate in data protection or similar qualification.
• Qualifications in OneTrust modules, particularly Data Mapping and Assessment, or equivalent.
