Summary/Objective:
The Operations Data Systems Specialist is pivotal in ensuring seamless communication and efficient reporting between various departments, including operations, fabrication, erection, finance/accounting, and management. They will also oversee the implementation, process improvement, upkeep and training related to software used by Operations. They will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the steel fabrication and erection industry.
Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned):
Operations Reporting:
- Compile, analyze, and interpret data related to project and production processes.
- As required, generate detailed reports on project progress, efficiency metrics, hours worked, tonnage, and other performance metrics.
- Develop and maintain dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all reports, presenting findings to management and stakeholders.
Software:
- Oversee or assist in the development or implementation of software used by Operations.
- Serve as main point of contact between Operations and software developers to assist in researching/resolving software issues as they arise.
- Recommend and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiencies through new or existing software.
- Oversee process development and training for existing or newly implemented software.
Data Management:
- Implement and maintain data collection systems and processes.
- Ensure data integrity and security, adhering to company policies and industry standards.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to improve data management systems and reporting tools.
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in operational processes and reporting mechanisms.
- Recommend and implement solutions to enhance Operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Conduct regular reviews of reporting processes to ensure they meet the company's evolving needs.
- Work with team members to generate work process training documents.
- Oversee initial and renewed training of team members to developed processes.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all reporting activities comply with industry regulations and company policies.
- Conduct quality checks on data and reports to maintain high standards.
- Assist in audits and compliance reviews as necessary.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering or related field is preferred but not required.
- 3-5 years experience in operations within the steel fabrication and/or erection industry or a related field preferred.
- Understanding of, and experience with, industry regulations, systems, and procedures.
- Proven experience in operations reporting, data analysis, or a similar role within the steel fabrication and erection industry.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI), and Microsoft 365 (including but not limited to Teams and SharePoint).
