We're looking for an exceptional Customer Service Delivery People Lead to help us make a difference to our planet.
As our Customer Service Delivery People Lead, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work. This post may be based at various UK Met Office sites depending on availability and suitability for the role. Please contact for more information.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share. Our people are at the heart of what we do and we'll do our best to agree a working pattern that works for everyone.
Whilst this is a temporary position until June 2026, there is potential for it to develop into a permanent position.

Your world of expertise
You will effectively lead and manage people who are responsible for delivering operational services, as well as dedicated People Leaders in the Weather Impacts and Advice area of our Services Directorate.
Through inclusive leadership and providing exceptional communication and engagement, the Customer Service Delivery People Lead will empower their teams to deliver high value services to the best of their ability and embrace change.
Your key duties
- As a role model create an inclusive team, engaging, motivating, and inspiring them to be the best they can be to deliver on their objectives and work together toward achievement of the common customer delivery team objectives.
- Provide direction to your team, communicating team expectations in a clear, honest, enthusiastic way building trust and providing clear direction and purpose articulating alignment to Met Office bigger picture priorities. Encouraging feedback on proposals and remaining open minded to suggested changes.
- Promote development of your team. Support the team to take responsibility for their continued development. Utilise feedback from colleagues in Services and the wider Met Office to enable strengths to be recognised and development needs to be addressed and development pathways aligned to the Operational Meteorology profession agreed to support achievement of their career aspirations whilst securing future skills requirements of the Met Office.
- Lead change implementation with your teams, from planning through to implementation.

As our Customer Service Delivery People Lead, your total reward package will be up to £72,530 annually, which includes:
- £52,799 base pay
- An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
- Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
