We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Service Charge Accountant to join our clients team in Dorset. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, giving you the flexibility to split your time between home and their office.
Your role will involve preparing budgets, reconciling accounts, handling invoicing, and responding to queries from leaseholders and property managers.
Day to day duties will include:- Create detailed service charge budgets for properties, including maintenance, repairs, utilities, and other shared services.
- Collaborate with property managers to forecast future costs.
- Perform year-end reconciliations of service charge accounts.
- Adjust accounts for any overpayments or underpayments.
- Issue financial statements to leaseholders.
- Prepare and issue service charge invoices to leaseholders or tenants.
- Track payments and manage any arrears or late payments.
- Handle queries related to service charge bills.
- Provide regular financial reports on service charge income and expenses.
- Prepare accounts for audits and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Maintain and track reserve funds for major repairs or capital projects.
- Ensure appropriate allocation and management of reserve funds.
- Work closely with property managers to ensure service charge funds cover maintenance needs.
- Provide financial updates and projections.
- Ensure service charge accounts comply with RICS guidelines and legal requirements.
- Assist with external audits and ensure records are audit-ready.
- Respond to inquiries and disputes from leaseholders about service charge accounts.
- Provide detailed breakdowns and explanations when needed.
- Review and monitor supplier contracts to ensure value for money.
- Approve expenditures in line with budgeted amounts.
