MAIN PURPOSE
The main purpose of this position is to grow the VSD business through strategic sales
management and to manage the sales activities of the VSD sales representatives. The Sales Manager is responsible to ensure the sales team achieve the sales budget.
The sales manager is also responsible to assist with:
▪ Technical queries (Strong Application Knowledge is required)
▪ Product launches (All marketing material to be order)
▪ Technical presentations.
▪ Trade shows.
▪ Market research and price trends.
▪ Manage customer relationship with customer base.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
◼ Arrange and chair regular Sales and Project Meetings.
◼ Attend management meetings as required.
Manage sales activities of VSD staff:
◼ Lead and manage the VSD sales team.
◼ Organisation of the VSD sales team.
◼ Plan sales related activities.
◼ Recruit, select and employment of the sales team.
◼ Train new sales staff internal and external.
◼ Review and allocate sales territories, industries and customers.
◼ Implement a training schedule for the sales staff, internal and external.
◼ Bi-annual and annual performance reviews of the sales team.
◼ Monthly KPI meetings with sales team.
◼ Develop and implement sales systems. E.g., Keeping an up-to-date customer list (CRM) and ensuring systematic quote follow up (CRM).
Planning and Strategy:
◼ Set and implement sales strategies to best ensure continued growth.
◼ Monthly sales forecast.
◼ Annual sales forecasts.
◼ Annual budgets per sales representative.
◼ Assist with pricing policies.
◼ Co-ordinate all project information and the integration thereof with the other divisions within the company.
◼ Keep up-to-date of competitors, market trends and developments.
Motor representatives:
◼ Plan and manage integrated sales activities between the various departments, divisions and group companies within the company.
◼ Plan and perform joint customer visits.
Distributors, Agents and Systems Integrators:
◼ Select and appoint distributors

◼ Develop and implement plan for increasing the skills of present distributors, agents and system integrators.
◼ Develop and implement a strategy for future appointment of distributors, agents and system integrators.
◼ RFQ application discussions and technical product selection
Sales Analysis:
◼ Quarterly analysis of sales – by product range, kW, voltage, customer, industry, representative etc.
QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE
◼ Grade 12/Matric and N6 Electrical or equivalent with more than five yeas experience in Drives and Controls.
◼ Strong general understanding of the business.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
◼ A legal drivers licence.
◼ Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
◼ Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, including formal communications and making presentations.
◼ Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
◼ A sense of urgency with a strong customer service orientation.
◼ Willingness and freedom to travel extensively, including frequent overnight stays away from home base.
◼ Hard working, resourceful, ambitious and have excellent business acumen.
WORKING CONDITIONS
◼ Work flexible hours.
◼ Position may require out of town travel.
◼ Subject to work beyond normal working hours, evenings, weekends and holidays, should the need arise.
◼ Attends and participates in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast
of changes in your profession.
GENERAL
◼ The prescribed Company Procedures must be complied with at all times.
◼ Perform any other reasonable duty delegated to you.
◼ All staff is required to service customers promptly and courteously and ensure that all calls
are returned, that queries are speedily answered and all commitments are timeously fulfilled.
