An exciting career opportunity exists at Medipost Pharmacy for a Maintenance Manager, reporting to the General Manager: Western Cape. This position is based in Parow, Western Cape. The purpose of the job is to ensure regular checking and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning and other systems functionality within the company. Attend to ad-hoc projects and promptly respond to emergency calls.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervising and managing maintenance staff effectiveness and quality of work
- Coordinate preventative maintenance staff and/or contractors to ensure Company property and Assets are kept in perfect working condition
- Identify areas for improvement/renovation and assign workers and contractors accordingly
- Obtain and present quotations for maintenance and ad-hoc projects to be done and oversee all installations & repairs done by own staff and/or external contractors
- Respond promptly to emergency calls for maintenance (this includes after hours call outs)
- Ensure the yard is neat and tidy, including gardens and waste areas
- Ensure water system (Borehole and filtration plant) is in working order at all times
- Responsible for keeping HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system(s) in perfect working order in conjunction with the appointed service provider
- Responsible for all Cold Room, Fridge and Freezer Maintenance in accordance with Cold Chain requirements
- Maintain perimeter in conjunction with Security Team to ensure a high level of security is maintained
- Compressor and Generator Maintenance in accordance with SOP
- Manage the set-up and take down of different capital equipment upgrades and ad-hoc projects
- Perform administrative and reporting tasks as needed
- Carry out frequent inspections of the facility to identify and resolve maintenance issues
- Adherence to and management of good housekeeping practices
- Regular checking of electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning and other systems to ensure functionality
- Ensure all contractors have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) in place e.g. HVAC unit(s), Cold Room etc.
- Liaison and relationship management with Landlord and/or Body Corporate
- Responsible for the Health and Safety Act/Policy and Health and Safety Strategic Objectives (Refer to Health and Safety Plan)
- Liaison and relationship management with contracted Health and Safety partner and Department of Labour
- Ensure all contractors on site comply fully with the OHS Act requirements
- Ensure that the Group Waste Management Policy is implemented and adhered to
- Probation and performance management evaluations conducted within agreed timelines
- IR interventions done timeously and accurately
REQUIREMENTS
- Grade 12/Matric
- Diploma in Facilities Management/Certified Maintenance Manager (Advantageous)
- Electrician (Trade Tested) – Advantageous
- Health and Safety Qualification – Advantageous
- Minimum of 10 years hands-on Maintenance experience with at least 3 years in management.
- Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing (including septic tank systems), carpentry, electrical systems (including generators, fridges, freezers, HVAC units), etc.
- Working knowledge of machines and equipment
- Computer Literate
- Microsoft Office (Excel – Intermediate)
