* *Job Summary*
The RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Renders professional care in accordance with the physician treatment plan and the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. He/She is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/She ensures that compassionate, engaged care meets or exceeds quality standards. Care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the South Carolina licensure and AAMC standard of care. Utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self care, cultural, ethnic and spiritual and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care. In doing so, performs frequent and accurate assessments, interprets and correlates findings, establishes plan of care and implements short term goals. The nurse observes patient progress, records pertinent observations, implements physician and nursing treatment plans and evaluates outcomes.

* Minimum Education Requirement
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
* Minimum Experience Requirement
Possesses a thorough knowledge of nursing principles as well as hospital policies and procedures; demonstrates ability to provide quality patient care; communicates and works effectively with people; possesses potential for leadership; possesses ability to assess patient's needs, i.e., clinical, teaching, mental and spiritual. Basic computer skills.ICU Tier 1: One year critical care experience.
* Minimum License Requirement
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in State of South Carolina or have licensure from another state with application to South Carolina Board of Nursing for licensure with temporary permit. BLS current. ACLS required within 6 months. PALS certification preferred.
* Physical Requirement/Working Conditions
May have irregular hours and long periods of standing and walking. Should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and will seek assistance when heavier objects need to be lifted. Patient Lifting equipment and assistive devices to be used when lifting/transporting patients. Position requires lifting, rotating body, flexing, extending, stooping, pushing/pulling, repetitive motions. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, combative patients and other conditions common to a hospital environment. May be exposed to infectious specimens, diseases, soiled laundry, heavy lifting and handling, but potential for personal harm or injury to self or others is limited when proper safety and health precautions are followed. Must successfully complete a post offer physical assessment. Able to maintain emotional stability under stressful and complicated situations; Must be able to perform CPR. External applicants, as well as position incumbents who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential functions, either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.
