Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, Virginia is currently seeking a Surgical Tech.
*Qualifications:*
* Graduate of an accredited surgical technician program.
* Must have Surgical Tech licensure with the State of Virginia.
* BLS required within 90 days of hire or transfer and maintained thereafter.
* Surgical Tech CST certification with the NBSTSA preferred.
Works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room and the Nurse Manager. Assists with the coordination of nursing care of the patient in the operating room and functions as a team member of the surgical team. Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of equipment instrumentation and supplies on the sterile field. Requires utilization of simple to complex equipment. Requires the cleaning and replenishment of equipment and supplies in order to maintain quality patient care. Participates in quality patient assurance in-service and customer service programs. Responsible for the handling and management of specimens and surgical counts. Assumes the role of expert for specific surgical service is responsible for monitoring the surgical schedule for equipment and supply needs prepares for daily case readiness supports the Specialty Nurse with the surgeon preference cards and for identifying communicating and educating service changes.
