The Department of Family & Community Medicine at Albany Medical College is seeking a BC/BE Family Physician to join their faculty for both resident and medical student education.
The successful candidate will join a well-established community practice in beautiful upstate New York (Albany Family Medicine of Community Care Physicians) with a wide range of clinical opportunities and privileges at both the academic teaching hospital and community teaching hospitals. Current faculty clinical interests include ambulatory primary care, geriatrics, sports medicine, outpatient procedures, inpatient medicine, osteopathic manipulative medicine, newborn care, medications for opiate use disorder, gender affirming care, abortion care, women’s health with or without obstetrics and point of care ultrasound. The clinical practice includes working with interdisciplinary team members including our residents, RN case managers, pharmacists, and integrated behavioral health.
Education is fundamental to the department’s mission with faculty responsibilities crossing the undergraduate to graduate medical education spectrum. Our 6-6-6 residency program is ACGME accredited with osteopathic recognition. Opportunities for educational leadership in the department are available, specifically for the role of Clerkship Director for the required third year clerkship in family medicine at Albany Medical College. The Clerkship Director will be core faculty in the Albany Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program in addition to the undergraduate medical education responsibilities at the title/rank of Assistant Professor or higher (rank commensurate with experience) at Albany Medical College.
The Clerkship Director will be responsible for central administrative activities and educational oversight of the four-week core family medicine clerkship required for all medical students. They will participate in teaching, mentoring, advising and supervising residents, fellows, medical students, and other learners and participate in various scholarly endeavors. Curriculum development, preceptor recruitment & retention, clinical evaluations and medial knowledge assessments are essential components of this clerkship director role. The Clerkship Director is also part of the multispecialty workgroup of clerkship directors of other specialties led by the Associate Dean of Medical Education at Albany Medical College.

Requirements
Qualified candidates should have completion of Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) , completion of an accredited internship and residency and an active license to practice medicine in NYS. Must be currently board certified by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Member Board or an approved American Osteopathic Association (AOA) specialty board. Upcoming new graduates will still be considered in a board eligible status.
