LPN-Physician Substitute (Plasma Center)
Location: Queensbury, NY
Center Operating Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 7 AM - 7 PM
Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Pay Range: $27 - $33 per hour, based on experience
Bonus Opportunities: Potential to earn up to 11% of base salary annually.
Work Schedule: Flexibility required to work an 8-hour shift, either an opening or closing shift, from Tuesday to Saturday, as determined by the hiring manager to meet center operational needs.
Job Summary:
The Physician Substitute is responsible for donor medical evaluations, determining donor suitability, and assessing donor adverse events.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and register new plasma donors into the donor management system.
Conduct screening procedures including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, and arm checks.
Perform finger sticks for hematocrit and total protein testing.
Determine donor eligibility through medical history interviews and physical examinations.
Educate donors on donor testing, HIV/AIDS, donation risks, informed consent, and review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) testing.
Provide counseling to donors regarding unacceptable test results.
Assist in donor investigations related to Post Donation Information.
Evaluate and manage donor adverse events during the donation process.
Follow all standard operating procedures for medical emergencies.
Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures.
Communicate effectively with Center Medical Director and Center Management as necessary.
Ensure confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Must live in New York state.
Must have a New York state-issued LPN or LVN license.
Must have an active CPR certification.
Proof of High School Diploma or equivalent
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
Use of hands for handling objects, tools, or controls.
Physical ability to sit for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and reaching.
Work Environment:
Typical work environment with moderate noise levels.
May be exposed to freezing temperatures for short periods.
Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Bonus Potential: Physician Substitutes can earn up to 11% of their base salary annually. Bonuses are paid out semi-annually, with up to 5.5% of the base salary payable in each half of the year.
