The Associate Merchandise Manager 1, reporting to the Merchandise Manager, is the entry-level Associate Merchandise Manager position in the Merchandising Department, and is responsible for finding and selecting products to expand the product assortment in assigned vehicles to support overall growth of revenue, market share, and profitability. Through market research and data analysis, this position will have direct responsibility for determining the next suppliers and products to add to our assortment, supplier negotiation and onboarding, and support selected products through the launch and post-launch process to ensure they achieve their maximum potential.
Year 1 is going to be about:
Responsible for selecting revenue producing products and suppliers to add to the assortment in assigned vehicles to achieve monthly new product revenue targets.
Conduct market and product research in assigned vehicles on an ongoing basis to identify and fill opportunities in the product assortment.
Build, setup, and develop new vendor relationships to grow store revenue and profitability.
Negotiate programs with new vendors to ensure all products are not only strong revenue producers, but also meet profitability targets.
Evaluate and execute merchandising and promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with store product line strategy.
Execute assigned projects prioritized based on business, revenue, and profit impact.
Identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share. Leverage existing internal sales data as well as any obtainable external data points on product popularity to inform assortment decisions and maximize revenue.
Coordinate and resolve issues with warehouse, receiving, and accounting.
Support in ensuring selected products are launched in a timely manner (all necessary data is provided or collected) and that products are presented and merchandised correctly on the website, so they are able to reach their full potential.
Be a subject matter expert on assigned vehicle markets, customers and their objectives and values. Leverage understanding to find products that have demand.
Assist in other company projects or objectives where vehicle product knowledge is required.
We can’t skip over some of the specific skills and experience we know are a “must” to be successful. So, we need you to have:
3-5 years of buying/store management experience, automotive industry knowledge preferred.
Understanding of the automotive aftermarket and customer demand
Basic understanding of Turn5 requirements for supplier onboarding
Able to consistently hit minimum SKU submission targets.
Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
Ability to understand and analyze financial concepts/data and potential implications on stores and suppliers.
Works smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well to produce quality work.
