*Job Summary*
FSI is looking to hire a HVAC Technician. This person will tend to heat exchangers, ventilation & cooling equipment such as fans, cooling towers, building automation systems and controllers, chillers, supply and return ducts, split type systems and data systems with humidity controls by performing the following duties.
*Responsibilities** *include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.
Maintains refrigerant inventory and usage records.
Mounts compressors and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
Installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools.
Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant.
Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit.
Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source.
Installs air and water filters in completed installation.
Injects small amount of refrigerant into compressor to tests systems and adds Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure.
Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to insure proper operation.
Tests joints and connections for gas leaks, using gauges or soap and water solution.
Wraps pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place with cement or wire bands.
Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring to repair installed units, using electrician’s hand tools and test equipment.
Maintain/repair and service to air conditioners, chillers, control motors, damper motors, fire and smoke dampers, humidifiers/dehumidifiers, and split type systems.
Lubricate bearings and motors as required by the manufacturer and local standards. Remove excess grease, oil, and dirt from the equipment.
Repair electrical connection as required to ensure a secure connection and avoid stress on the wires.
Ensure the equipment and equipment’s surroundings is clean and free of debris.
Maintain interior air box, dampers, louvers, fans and drain pans clean and free of dust buildup.
Maintain motor controllers clean and free of dust buildup.
Monitor and maintain chemical treatment levels in closed loop systems.
Utilize lock out tag out.
*Education and/or Work Experience Requirements*
* Any personnel performing work on HVAC systems shall be certified by one of the following:
* A nationally recognized HVAC certification programs (i.e., North American Technician Excellence (NATE),
* ESCO Institute HVAC Excellence Professional Level Technician Certification, the International Code Counsel (ICC), or
* Documented Journeyman status in a state or nationally recognized apprenticeship program, DD214 documented Level Five or higher training and a EPA 608 Universal Certification.
* High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
* Minimum of four years in the HVAC trade and universal certification credentials.
* Two to three years of experience in healthcare facilities.
* Must possess a valid driver’s license, insurable driving record.
* The ability to read and write English.
* Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check.
* Must possess or be able to obtain a *NACI (National Agency Check with Inquiries*).
* Shall possess a valid NC State License for HVAC type work. License should be a minimum of a “heating, group number two (2)” type as specified by the NC State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating, and Fire Sprinkler Contractors.
* All state or federal license requirements; or any licenses or certificates that may be required by the contract in which the employee is working.
