1. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
2. Holds a post-primary registry.
3. Certified by the State of Texas to practice and administer ionizing radiation; Texas Medical Board License.
4. Certification in basic CPR.
*Job Summary:*
Per the Radiologic Technologist Career Ladder Agreement, a Rad Tech II will possess a minimum of two registries. Under the direction of the Imaging Services Director and Radiologist, the technologist will provide services embracing the _MVL and Core Values_. Performs diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease, injuries, pain management, imaging guidance. Operates the imaging equipment to produce images of the body. Performs technological functions to ensure optimal diagnostic quality of patient care utilizing efficient and safe processes.
*Specific Responsibilities:*
*REGISTERED RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST (RAD TECH II)*
* Ability to work as a team member.
* Attention to detail.
* Properly identifies patients with two patient identifiers (Name & DOB). Maintains HIPPA compliance.
* Exhibiting a high degree of tact, courtesy, and poise, explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtains patient cooperation, while using AIDET.
* Possesses and demonstrates adequate knowledge to provide radiological services with techniques appropriate to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. In compliance with all radiation safety policies and procedures to minimize radiation to patient and staff (ALARA).
* Administers ionizing radiation determining exposure factors based on height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree on penetration required. Adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
* Maintains imaging equipment, procedure rooms stocked and clean ready for use.
* Performs routine quality control measures and maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and arranges for repairs as needed.
* Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
* Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control. Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
* Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
* Orients new staff and trains students.
* Reports "near misses" and inputs errors promptly into RL Solutions (Incident & Feedback Reporting System) to improve processes and identify trends. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities, and contributes to meeting departmental and hospital targets for quality and safety.
* Performs routine duties in an independent manner with minimal direct supervision and knows when to refer problems to Lead or Director.
* Maintains and demonstrates thorough understanding and clinical competency for all exams and equipment of multiple modalities, to include preparing and administering contrast agents to patients as directed and authorized by the Radiologists.
* Demonstrates an excellent knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and ie.CT/MRI physics as applied to ie. CT/MRI procedures and operation of the department.
* Demonstrates ability to accurately provide quality examinations in a timely manner.
* Is able to handle high volume, high stress situations.
* Has exceptional critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.
* Serves as a mentor and resource to less experienced staff/students.
* Performs within the scope of other modalities once competency is fulfilled.
* Completes other tasks and activities as assigned.
* Performs other related duties as necessary.
