Associates degree in engineering field or combination of 2-4 years’ professional experience and education
Completion of Mechatronics or Instrumentation curriculum
Strong programming knowledge preferably in C based language
Knowledge of C# and VB is preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server is preferred
Strong hardware knowledge including PC’s, printers, networking, etc.
Basic knowledge of alternating current and direct current theory
Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, prints, and other documentation
Ability to understand and edit PLC and HMI programming as needed
Ability to troubleshoot, identify, and resolve problems in a logical manner, using sound judgement
Ability to communicate in a concise and professional manner with vendors and coworkers
Familiar with basic test equipment, i.e. DVM, oscilloscope, etc.
Familiarity with servo motion systems, VFD drives, graphical HMI hardware/software
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Solidworks
Machine programming (G code) experience is preferred
Knowledge of tool geometry and grinding techniques is preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude
Basic Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
A typical day may look like this:
Works under the direction of the Automation Engineering Supervisor
Diagnose electrical and electronic problems
Consult with manufacturer’s technical support to determine proper repair or maintenance procedures
Analyzes user specifications and requirements. Encodes, tests, debugs, and documents programs on a small to moderate scale.
Works with users to define system requirements and resolve problems
Revises and updates programs and documentation as required.
Creates and modifies programs necessary for the successful plant operations.
Installs PC and other hardware used for automation technology
Installation, and testing of electronic components
Test and document PLC software.
Troubleshoot, solve problems, provide technical support and answer questions
Diagnose and repair industrial computer software and hardware systems
Occasional travel may be required for this position (expected to be less than 10% of the time)
