The role
G-Research’s Cloud Engineering group is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer specializing in Cloud Compute and Storage to join its rapidly expanding global team based in Dallas.
As an AWS Cloud Engineer (Compute & Storage), you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our global compute and storage estate within AWS. This crucial role will rely on your expertise to deploy highly available compute and storage solutions to help support the company's operational needs and strategic goals.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Becoming the in-house subject matter expert on AWS Compute and Storage services
Designing scalable, reliable, and secure Compute and Storage solutions and architectures within the AWS ecosystem
Collaborating with compute and storage teams to enforce strict security measures, ensuring compliance with internal policies
Collaborating with consumer teams to design and build solutions based on requirements
Automating deployments and operations using scripting languages, such as Python, and infrastructure as code tools, such as AWS CloudFormation and Terraform
Developing and maintaining disaster recovery strategies for solutions and participating in DR testing where applicable
Proactively investigating and advising on cost saving for consumer teams for new and existing solutions
Monitoring and providing advice on current and upcoming costs alongside implementing cost-saving measures where possible to optimize spending
Staying informed and actively monitoring AWS for updates to service offerings, reporting your recommendations back to our consumer teams and stakeholders

Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
+3 years of experience in Compute and Storage, with a focus on AWS
Expertise in at least one programming language, such asPython or Golang
Expertise in infrastructure as code tooling; minimum one of Terraform, Cloudformation or Ansible
Strong proficiency in AWS Compute and Storage tools and services including, but not limited to, EC2, ECS, EKS, VPCs, S3, EBS and EFS.
Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, architectures, and services offered by AWS
Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders across different departments
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas and findings to technical and non-technical audiences
Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
AWS certification(s), such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, is highly desirable.
