Our client, a leader in farming and global distribution, is looking for an enthusiastic OHSS Officer to join their team in Grabouw. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and uphold policies and procedures that ensure a secure working environment, compliant with relevant safety standards and regulations.
- Perform regular site assessments to identify potential safety hazards and ensure timely corrective measures are implemented.
- Continuously assess risks, identifying potential hazards, and creating effective safety protocols to prevent incidents.
- Assist in investigating incidents and accidents to uncover root causes, fostering improvements in safety practices.
- Stay informed on safety regulations and guide the team in implementing necessary changes across all sites.
- Oversee the management of OHSS-related documentation, including maintaining records, developing templates, and managing safety programs.
- Lead internal communication efforts surrounding OHSS, including planning activities, sharing information, and managing incident report processing.
Requirements: - A recognised OHSS certification at NQF Level 5 or equivalent, preferably accredited by SAIOSH.
- At least 2 years of experience as an OHSS Officer, ideally within a large site or production environment.
- Solid knowledge of safety regulations and the OHS Act 85 of 1993.
- Expertise in conducting Risk Assessments, Problem Solving, and analytical decision-making.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with database management.
- Valid driver’s license with access to own transport.
- Project management experience or related qualifications will be beneficial.
