Purpose of the Role To ensure compliance with finance policy/procedures, and maintain a robust financial control environment. The role is also responsible for preparing various financial statements and reports Roles and Responsibilities Prepares monthly financial statements, management accounts, audit packs and other reporting requirements Computes statutory taxes and prepares tax returns, ensuring compliance with reporting standards and other tax regulations Reviews, creates and implements a reliable financial control framework with clear structured processes, policies and procedures Establishes, implements and reviews appropriate accounting schedules Supports in ensuring accounting principles and reporting requirements are adhered to Supports financial audits and production of statutory accounts including any consolidation and supporting notes Liaises with internal and external stakeholders including local tax authorities, auditors, advisors, and statutory bodies Supports the development of new initiatives for the improvement of finance functions Monitors monthly P&L, sales and cost of sales, cash flow statement, and other financial reports to keep track of financial performance Prepares and records assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses entries by compiling and analysing account information Summarises current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports Prepares monthly bank reconciliation of company accounts Develops, implements, modifies, document, record keeping, and accounting system, making efficient use of the accounting Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information needed for the audit of financial statements Ensures all costs and revenues are captured on SAP promptly Advises on the financial accounting implications of new revenue streams and transactions, seeking guidance where necessary and ensuring optimal treatments are implemented Manages the month end timetable and production of the monthly reporting packs including recharges, other journals, the review/reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts and the production of forecasts as required Maintains the chart of accounts and data model Assists with the preparation of the annual budgets Keeps up to date with the latest changes to financial reporting standards Manages invoicing, payments, ledger processes and bank reconciliations Maintains the integrity of data utilised in financial systems Cross checks and confirms the accuracy of all payment vouchers prepared by the Account Payable Accountant Authorises petty cash vouchers and IOUs Prepares and cross checks the accuracy of the payroll Financial Planning & Analysis Partners with Financial Planning and Analysis Manager and other business teams to support planning & forecasting for key business decisions Conducts variance analysis and reconciliations such as budget vs. actual variances Supports the budgeting and forecasting processes (as required), in particular through provision of actual costs and balances with insights into key drivers and movements Minimum Requirements Minimum of first Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related discipline Relevant professional certifications e.g. Associate General Accountant South Africa (AGA SA, Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or its equivalent is required. Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry Extensive experience with VAT computation is a MUST Ability to draft AFS in CaseWare is a prerequisite Experience with complex fixed asset management Proficiency with SAP system Sound knowledge of Internal Controls Must have completed Articles
