The Role
We are looking to hire a Bid Manager who will be responsible for managing bids, tenders, and proposals (opportunities) to win new business. The successful candidate will be working closely with the internal teams, acting as the ‘Bid Project Manager’, ensuring compliance with customer, business, and governance requirements, highlighting the company value proposition, and ensuring a quality submission.
The successful candidate must:
- Be highly organised and detail-oriented, with excellent time management skills - able to prioritise (constant awareness of deadlines) and manage urgency.
- Possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Have an understanding of public sector tender requirements.
- Remain calm under pressure, be proactive and flexible to changing priorities, and have a clear understanding and proven use of strategic proposal management processes, including qualification, pre-proposal planning, strategy development, and storyboarding as well as overall proposal project management.
- Be non-compromising on quality and attention to detail on all deliverables.
- Possess advanced proposal writing skills and basic graphic design skills: the ability to turn 'raw information' into well-articulated proposal content.
- Be able to cope with a substantial amount of responsibility and pressure, and have strong business orientation, analysis/problem solving, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
- Be diplomatic, able to build trust and work effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Be a strong collaborator/team player. The role would suit a self-motivated, innovative, and creative individual with the ability to generate new ideas and follow through to completion.
Skills and Experience
Essential qualifications: - Matric certificate
- APMP Foundation certification
Preferred qualifications: - Relevant business or similar degree or diploma
Experience Required: - Minimum 7 years’ experience in a corporate environment.
- At least 7 years’ experience in bid management.
- Advanced skills in Teams, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- ICT experience.
Other Work environment:
Hybrid with the option of 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.
Physical demands:
Must be able to work under pressure.
Travel:
Own or reliable transport is essential.
