We are looking for a Senior Group Financial Accountant to be part of our shared service centre based in Cape Town. This role reports to the Group Financial Controller
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Group Financial Accountant is an essential part of the Group Finance team for M&C Saatchi, supporting the Group financial accounting and reporting function.
The role will ensure:
- the provision of financial information for external reporting is timely, accurate and compliant with IFRS
- the high-quality consolidation and reporting of the M&C Saatchi Group financial results on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- the local finance teams are provided with high quality financial accounting and reporting support on all aspects of financial accounting and reporting
- the external audit cycle is delivered to a high quality and on a timely basis.
Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting (70%)
- Supervise the Group Financial Accountant’s monthly intercompany reconciliation, ensuring that all mismatches between the entities are resolved before the month end close.
- Perform monthly reviews and interrogation of monthly actuals reports for complex entities (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow), ensuring it is compliant with IFRS and Group accounting policies.
- Supervise the Group Financial Accountant’s preparation of IFRS 16 lease journals and the accurate maintenance of the lease register.
- Maintain tracker for non-headline costs.
- Assist the preparation of the monthly Group headline and non-headline consolidated results, including Income Statement, Balance sheet and Cash flow.
- Prepare the commentary for the monthly Board Report.
- Support the preparation of accurate consolidation entries, ensuring all Group transactions are fully supported for audit purposes.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis as required
- Support the development of new reporting formats and analytical tools with the Group Finance Systems team, to drive improved compliance and efficiency.
- Support the development of the Group accounting policies, ensuring they evolve with the business. Assist the preparation of interim and full-year Group statutory reporting.
- Prepare the local statutory accounts for complex UK entities in Caseware, ensuring they are filed on time, and they can be reconciled to the group consolidation system.
External Audit (30%)
- Support the Group audit process, working with the external audit team, to ensure they are provided with high quality information, and ensuring the audit is completed on time and with ever-reducing number of audit differences.

You’ll bring with you (experience and qualifications):
- Prior experience working in a Shared Service Centre environment.
- Significant experience of working in a standard ERP and Consolidation packages, with specific experience of NetSuite and Adaptive Insight desirable.
- Fluent English language skills. Other languages an advantage.
- Experienced in Microsoft office packages, with advanced excel skills.
- Professional accounting qualification.
- Ideally an audit background with post qualification experience in an industry Finance Manager or equivalent role, preferably working in a IFRS environment.
- Knowledge of the Media or Digital sectors an advantage, but not a requirement.
