Purpose of the Job
To plan deliveries per route using the National Planning system and to ensure the plan is executed accordingly.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure route planning is completed for loading by agreed-upon cutoff times.
- Optimisation of routes, resources, km, and time.
- Ensure planning is realistic to achieve the maximum delivery strike rate and productivity in line with depots KPIs.
- Produce planning reports and schedules for dispatch.
- Ensure deliveries are planned according to service types and booking times.
- Maximise cubes and weight utilisation per vehicle when not restricted.
- Update and action special requirements (per department).
- Assist in relevant operations/operational functions as required.
- Generate planning reports on vehicles used, km’s, and time for daily feedback meetings with operations teams.
- Manage delivery point geo-locations in Plato.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Logistics or transport qualification an advantage.
- Relevant planning experience an advantage.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office) is a must.
- Must have FLO or Plato experience.
Skills Required
- Able to complete forms related to own working area.
- Can complete administrative procedures with necessary directions and systems at disposal.
- Can make basic inferences from customer usage patterns.
- Able to complete basic procedures during dispatch under direct supervision.
- Able to do basic calculations to ensure the correctness of the distribution process.
- Able to apply basic Health and Safety procedures relevant to own work functions under direct supervision.
- Able to identify hazards and handle them with direct instructions/guidance in place.
- Able to execute tasks related to logistics under general supervision.
