Network Security Specialist (Fortigate Firewall Focus)
Overview: The successful candidate will collaborate closely with IT Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure the business's network infrastructure—spanning cloud and on-premises environments—is secured according to company policies and industry best practices. This role involves daily monitoring and administration of security controls, with a key focus on Fortigate Firewall management , producing detailed risk metrics, and supporting audit and regulatory inquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fortigate Firewall Management : Primary responsibility for the configuration, monitoring, administration, and troubleshooting of Fortigate Firewalls across both cloud and on-premise environments.
- Monitoring & Administration : Perform day-to-day monitoring and administration of security controls around networking solutions for Cloud-based systems (Office 365, Azure) and on-premise infrastructure.
- Network Security Procedures : Implement and maintain procedures that support the Network Security function, with a particular focus on Fortigate Firewall security, to enhance overall security posture.
- Risk Metrics Reporting : Develop and produce periodic risk metrics, generating multiple subset views at region, country, and site levels using data collected by Cyber Security reviewers from ITSM tickets.
- Regulatory Compliance Support : Assist in fulfilling audit or regulatory Requests for Information (RFI) that require detailed data analysis related to connectivity and security, especially focused on firewall configurations and security controls.
- Cybersecurity Risk Management : Work closely with the Cyber Security team to maintain a comprehensive understanding of risks and provide recommendations to mitigate firewall-related risks.
- Best Practices & Process Adherence : Stay updated with current processes, best practices, and trends in Fortigate Firewall management and network security to proactively address potential security challenges.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience : Minimum of 3 years in IT, with a strong focus on Fortigate Firewall management and network security.
- Certifications : Possession of relevant security certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, PSP, CPP, CEH, CISA, CISM, SANS, ITIL, or MCTS.
- Technical Skills :
- Expertise in managing and securing Fortigate Firewalls .
- Strong knowledge of network security appliances such as F5, HPE, Palo Alto, Fortinet (Fortigate), Netscaler, and Zscaler.
- Experience managing Cloud platforms like Office 365 and Azure.
- Strong knowledge of network security best practices and concepts.
- Analytical Abilities : Experience producing detailed reports and metrics, analyzing large data sets, and identifying firewall-related security trends or risks.
- Communication Skills : Ability to communicate security-related concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience managing Fortigate Firewalls in a regulated environment.
- Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and tools.
- Familiarity with automated risk management and monitoring tools.
