MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To support the Nursing Manager in leading and coordinating safe, quality patient care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Support the Nursing Manager to achieve quality patient care in line with the hospital operational goals and objectives.
- Manage patient risks to achieve patient safety in line with specified clinical outcomes.
- Ensure a positive patient experience in line with corporate benchmarks.
- Ensure optimal utilisation of a competent and engaged workforce and other resources in line with the relevant company guidelines.
- Lead and manage direct reports.
- Establish and manage key stakeholder relationships to achieve integrated patient care and positive clinical outcomes.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Degree/diploma in nursing, Appropriate leadership/management qualification. Discipline-specific qualification: Critical Care Nursing Diploma.
DESIRED EDUCATION: Nursing Education Qualification.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 years experience in a supervisory position, e.g. Unit Manager.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE: 2 – 3 years experience in a supervisory position within a specialised unit.
REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Infection prevention and control.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and quality assurance methodologies.
- Productivity management in nursing.
- Clinical risk management.
- Nursing functional knowledge.
- Knowledge and experience in auditing and accreditation processes.
- Human resource processes including employee relations.
