Senior Hardware Engineer – Electronics
We are exclusively partnering with an emerging technology developer based in Ely on their latest recruitment drive which will see the company double in size. A startup, in R&D stage, financially backed by a wider global organisation, that innovates and creates exceptional products, technologies and services that will improve the lives of people while collaborating with some of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities. Within walking distance of Ely train station this role is accessible from both London and Cambridge within 1 hour. The successful candidate will be at the centre of a high-performance R&D Team that operates under the core SCRUM principles.
Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire
Hours: 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday (option to work from home on Wednesdays)
Hourly Rate / Salary: Circa £55,000

Duties:

Electronics design process, schematic capture, component selection, simulation, and PCB layout
-
Evaluate and introduce new technologies, new electronics laboratory requirements & certifications to improve existing facilities.

Ensure hardware designs are fit for purpose and compliant with regulatory and safety standards

Co-ordinate early prototype builds, taking a hands-on approach to hardware design
-
Design debugging and verification by taking part
-
Leading the subsystem level DFMEA activities to help identify risks and suitable mitigations

Perform requirements analysis and requirements
-
Review and set requirements for firmware/FPGA engineers to produce test specifications
-
Ensuring test procedures and processes are compatible with the CI of products and technologies

Contributing to meetings through document preparation, presentations
-
Estimating time and effort required for hardware (and firmware) activities and delivering to these time and effort estimates to ensure cost and schedule adherence.

Reviewing technical proposals

Assist with providing accurate estimates

Define, architect, develop, document, and Test FPGA firmware
What our client is looking for from you:
-
Experience as a SCRUM team member is an advantage
-
5+ years of full life cycle experience in the R&D of Commercial Products and Technologies,
-
Extensive industry experience, working on the development of production-ready systems and the design of multi-layer PCB's (stack-up design)

Electronics design in CAD (preferably Altium but also Mentor-Graphics), both schematic and layout.

Experience with microprocessor and microcontroller designs, communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Profibus, etc), high-speed communication interfaces and buses.

Design for EMC compliance design for manufacturing and test (DFM, DFT)

Experience with power supply design in a mobile or low power environment, memory subsystems

Ability to use SCRUM project management principles
Skills that are a distinct advantage:
-
Experience in developing and implementing complex imaging or tomographic devices such as MRI, CT, Ultrasound, etc is an advantage.

Experience in Electromagnetic Tomography Circuit Design such as ECT, EIT, ERT, MIT, CIFT is a distinct advantage
