Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer to conceive, design, and produce high-quality technical outputs that meet our clients' requirements. The successful candidate will work within the boundaries of relevant codes, standards, and internal engineering processes, adhering to sound engineering practices. This role includes supervising and advising on site activities, including construction and implementation. The position is primarily technical, involving interface and liaison with colleagues, clients, suppliers, and providers.
Key Performance Areas
- Prepare design specifications based on thorough engineering analysis of scope, work requirements, and solution options.
- Conceive, plan, design, and detail civil engineering solutions from conception to Bill of Quantities and working drawings.
- Liaise and coordinate with clients, suppliers, and colleagues from other disciplines on planning, design, and implementation of solutions.
- Prepare procurement and implementation documents, including scope of work, tender, RFQ, contract, and project management documentation.
- Provide site supervision and advice for construction and implementation projects.
- Contribute to client and supplier liaison, including participation in project and site meetings.
- Lead and assist in the preparation of project proposals, tenders, and quotations.
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc (Eng), B Eng, or B Tech Eng degree in Civil Engineering
- Registered or eligible for registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer
- 5 years of relevant multi-disciplinary project and design experience in civil engineering, preferably in industrial, mining, or manufacturing settings
- Working knowledge of:
- OHS Act and Mines Health & Safety Act
- Relevant SANS codes, ISO 9001:2000, and ISO 45001:2018
- COTO:2020 Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Works
- Standards and methodologies for geomatics and geotechnical investigations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including project management applications
- Experience with computer-aided design software (e.g., Autocad Civil 3D, Civil Designer, or similar)
