Position 1 Recruitment is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading manufacturing site. This position is ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in mechanical engineering design.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful design of motors and generators, working with various engineering principles to meet project-specific requirements. You will collaborate with internal teams to ensure the product design aligns with the highest engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Produce parametric models and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks, using engineering best practices.
• Actively participate in the design and development of the product range, providing technical advice and instructions to departments such as Manufacturing and Testing.
• Undertake detailed mechanical design and analysis to ensure the integrity and quality of the product range using in-house and proprietary software.
• Apply value engineering principles, design for manufacture, and concurrent engineering techniques in product development.
• Provide technical support to the Sales Department, including offering timely information for quotations and occasionally traveling to meet customers.
• Assist in evaluating technical problems with installed products, potentially requiring site visits to customers for investigations.
• Conduct rotor dynamics and vibration analysis, including generating technical reports for customer submissions.
• Recommend and implement improvements to product design rules and software.
• Assist in preparing technical reports and presentations.
Education / Qualification Requirements:
• Essential: Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical EngineeringNORFOLK
Experience and Knowledge Requirements:
• Experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM or similar software.
• Knowledge of High Voltage Electrical Rotating Equipment.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience managing a heavy workload and making decisions in a busy environment.
