Position Overview
The Sales Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the transactional sales teams, driving the sales strategy, and managing the execution of transactional sales activities to meet revenue goals. The role involves the development and implementation of sales strategies focused on high-volume sales cycles, new business transactions, and building relationships with customers for repeat business. This role will oversee day-to-day sales operations, ensure the achievement of sales targets, and ensure that the sales team maintains the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership & Strategy:

Lead and mentor a team of transactional sales professionals to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.

Develop and implement sales strategies focused on shorter-cycle, high-volume sales opportunities.

Analyse sales data, market trends, and customer feedback to continuously optimise sales processes.

Set clear sales targets and KPIs for the team and regularly track performance to ensure consistent results.

Team Management:

Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing transactional sales team.

Sales Process Optimisation:

Streamline and refine the sales process for transactional opportunities, ensuring it’s efficient, customer-centric, and adaptable.

Implement and oversee the use of CRM tools to track customer interactions, sales progress, and lead management.

Identify sales barriers and work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve sales effectiveness.

Customer Engagement & Retention:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to drive repeat business.

Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell transactional products and services based on customer needs.

Work closely with customer service and support teams to ensure a seamless customer experience and high satisfaction rates.

Performance Analysis & Reporting:

Monitor key sales metrics, such as conversion rates, average deal size, and sales cycle length, to gauge team performance and sales trends.

Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on sales performance, forecasts, and opportunities for improvement.

Adjust sales strategies based on data insights to ensure targets are met or exceeded.

Collaboration:

Collaborate with product and pricing teams to ensure the sales team has the resources and knowledge needed to successfully close transactions.

Partner with other departments (e.g. operations, finance, legal) to resolve any issues related to contracts, pricing, or customer terms.
Qualifications & Requirements
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field .
Required: Proven track record of success in sales leadership, particularly in transactional sales (minimum 4 years).
Strong understanding of transactional sales cycles, including prospecting, lead qualification, closing, and post-sale engagement.
Experience managing and leading a team to meet sales targets and business objectives.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret sales data to drive performance.
Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
Experience in industry specific role, e.g., SaaS, manufacturing, healthcare etc.
Experience with sales training programs and professional development.
Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or similar.
