Job Role: Electrical Systems Lead [Automotive]
Location: Northamptonshire
Salary: Basic Salary £65,000 to £70,000 Dependant on experience
The Role:
As the Lead Electrical Systems Engineer you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of electrical engineers and automotive electrical technicians working on the installation and development of battery technology into electrical vehicles [EV] both modern and classic. Working from modern, purpose built facilities in the Northamptonshire area, this role will allow you to play a critical part in the creation of electrical specifications and architecture of the vehicle assemblies, such as wiring, fuses, low voltage batteries, sensors, etc.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

Control the design and specification of low voltage wiring

Guide mechanical design engineers on best practices

Primary point of contact with external vehicle battery and electrical suppliers

Create and maintain schematics in Arcadia and Visio and control release of updates

End of line pass/fail vehicle requirements and sign off procedures

Support software development, testing, analysis and evaluation teams

Support test and development teams to address any vehicle electrical, battery and wiring issues

Sign off on all engineering designs and drawings

Support for vehicle’s engineering bill of materials, parts cost, and parts risk assessment.

Work with programme management and engineering lead to move designs through milestones in a timely fashion

Support and manage recruitment efforts within the electrical vehicle team and other departments within the business
Professional Skills:
-
5+ Years of relevant experience within automotive electrical engineering

Expertise in system design in automotive / vehicle applications
-
Experience in Visio and Arcadia or similar industry standard software

Experience or knowledge of CAN bus and/or LIN bus
-
Experienced in vehicle component design and construction (wires, connectors, insulation, shielding, etc)

Experience with automotive standards and communication protocols

Experienced with vehicle release procedures, drawing and vehicle parts tracking
