What will you do as a Project Manager (Interim)?
The Project Manager (Interim) will be responsible for managing the delivery of selected growth and accelerate projects covering project development, construction, risks, financials, and resources, ensuring governance and engaging stakeholders throughout the different project phases.
Ensuring that the various project phases are delivered within budget, schedule, and scope.

What do we expect from you as a Project Manager (Interim)?
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- BSc Degree Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical or B-Tech Mechanical Engineering.
- National Diploma in Project Management would be an added advantage.
- Certified PMP would be advantageous.
- Minimum 7-10 years’ experience managing projects and tank construction within the Petro-chemical industry.
- Currently in a similar role of Project Manager.

Your core responsibilities are:
Business Development Projects
- Consulted on identifying and analyzing opportunities for business development and take up the project management role of these projects in line with VPM in the various stages of the project.
- Close cooperation required with the Business Developer, the Internal Customer, and reporting to the Technical Manager and Project Owner.
Project Definition
- Determined project definition and scope.
- Responsible for completing the development of project details and scope (incl. SHE, quality, cost, and time), deciding on the needed (external) resources and developing a cost estimate.
Project Planning & Controls
- Responsible for developing, and after approval, communicating and implementing the project execution plan (including controls) for different project phases.
- Direction to the activities performed to deliver project results.
Design
- Responsible for determining and aligning specification, standards, technology concepts, equipment and materials, operating parameters, IT and utilities needed for project execution.
- Detailed and maintainable project design aligned with best practices within Vopak and the industry.
Risk management
- Responsible for ensuring identification, assessment, and reduction of project risks.
- Management and minimization of risk exposure and effective risk controlling measures.
Cost management & control
- Responsible for defining, developing, and implementing cost management plan and process for project execution.
- Insight into cost estimates, expenditures, and cost changes and updates.
Contractor selection & management
- Responsible for selecting suppliers and contractors for (parts of) projects and concluding contracts.
- Optimal availability of required resources for achieving project results during delivery against optimal costs.
- Mobilization of required resources for achieving project results during delivery and contribution to high-quality performance by third parties.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Responsible for monitoring relevant engineering activities, taking corrective actions when needed and controlling changes during detail engineering, construction, and commissioning, using the reporting template.
- Definition of projects against an appropriate level of quality and costs and within the determined scope.
- Responsible for monitoring the projects risks and progress, taking corrective actions when needed and controlling changes during delivery, using the reporting template.
- Delivery of projects against an appropriate level of quality and costs and within the determined scope.
Improvements
- Consulted on reviewing and approving proposed engineering designs and subsequent products and process enhancements or changes.
- Realization of improvements in products and processes.
Deviation Management
- Responsible for managing, monitoring, and preventing deviations as well as identifying and taking improvement actions (corrective and preventive).
- Avoidance of deviation and/or mitigation of deviation effects in case of occurrences.
Project close-out
- Responsible for delivering the project in line with project objectives, budget, and planning, evaluating project results and handing over project to BU.
- Project is properly closed, and handed over to line management and relevant lessons are summarized and shared.
