We are working with a client seeking a *Forensic Nurse Practitioner *to join the team in West Mercia. The custody suites are based in Kidderminster and Telford. This exciting role involves working alongside police officers to assess and treat individuals detained in police custody.
*Role Overview:*
As a Forensic Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing the health needs of detainees, determining if they are suffering from conditions such as mental health issues, substance misuse, diabetes complications, or head injuries. You will also conduct forensic medical examinations to gather evidence for use in the criminal justice system.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Deliver forensic practitioner services in compliance with the *Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE)* and local protocols.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including injury records and activity logs.
* Advise and support custody officers in assessing detainees’ healthcare needs and prioritising care.
* Consult with the Forensic Medical Examiner as required.
* Assess detainees’ fitness for detention, interviews, understanding of charges, and release.
* Evaluate alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.
*Essential Criteria:*
* *Registered Nurse* with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
* Full membership with the *NMC*
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
* Proficient in oral and written English.
* Continuous UK residency for at least 3 years.
* Right to Work in the UK.
* Ability to obtain *Level 2 NPPV clearance* through Police Vetting.
* *DBS check* required (to be undertaken on appointment).
