5D Recruitment is proud to be working exclusively and in partnership with a leading engineering company based in the heart of the home counties. Employing nearly 50 people they design, manufacture, assemble, test, and ship bespoke machinery from their new, world-class facility.
They are market leaders in the concept design and manufacture of fully automated, high precision, bespoke machines which are used to complete complex functions required to guarantee the quality of the product. Working across a variety of industries their main markets include the medical and scientific sectors.
What are the day to day responsibilities of the role?
Every machine is fully tested before it leaves the facility. This is everything from a small unit, through to a large PLC controlled piece of equipment.
80% of the role will be as a test engineer, this will involve:

Setting the machine up to be tested – connection of the services (water / power) etc.

Checking the machine to ensure that its ready to be powered up – this will be checking all parts of the machine, including the wiring and the control panel / breakers etc.

Conducting power up testing and then running through functionality testing.

The scope of testing varies from machine to machine, based on customer requirements and also the complexity of the machines.

This could involve sequencing of robotics

Controlling of chillers and heaters
-
Timings of processes.

Sequencing of motors / drives etc.

Working with the controls team.
20% of the role will be as an electrical fitter, this will involve:

Wiring the machines from the ground up.

Working from engineering drawings, wiring in pumps, motors, drives, HMI’s, control panels etc.
