Employment Contract type: Fixed based Contract
Job location: Cape Town, Pinelands on site
Salary: Market Related
Purpose: The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to end-users by troubleshooting and resolving issues related to desktop systems, hardware, and software. The role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems and peripherals while ensuring timely and efficient resolution of technical problems. The Specialist will also support the deployment of new technology and assist with network-related tasks as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Provides and maintains all end-user and server-based computing facilities to specific business areas.
- Maintenance of these facilities involves direct dealings with service providers.
- Interacts with Helpdesk facility for business areas supported to identify issues for resolution.
- Performs and maintains builds of new workstations.
- Performs and maintains builds of development servers as required by development teams in the business areas.
- Maintains all end user computing facilities (e.g. printing, fax, telephone).
- Provides assistance to CSC in the build of Production servers.
- Liaises with CSC and provides recipes for third party software requirements for desktop builds.
- Performs hardware and software audits to ensure compliance to licensing.
- Performs regular research on MS desktop and server technologies and ensure patch releases are applied appropriately.
- End user support.
- MS Windows Troubleshooting and support.

Job requirements:
- Matric
- Microsoft certifications
- HP certification advantageous
- Knowledge and experience of Microsoft operating systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Office Suite)
- Knowledge of Spotlight, Front Office, etc. advantageous
- Knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, AWS, etc.
- Hardware repairs and upgrades
- Five years’ experience working in an IT desktop support environment
