Ethekweni Refractories has an exciting opportunity in our Supervise Department. We are looking for a talented individual with relevant skills and experience based in Durban as a Refractory Supervisor. The successful candidate will report directly to the Project Manager.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Matric / N3 / Equivalent: Trade Related Qualification
- 5-8 Years Refractory Industry Workplace Experience
- Supervise Experience

- Good record keeping and management of company records and documentation
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage a Team:
- Receive and communicate instructions from management effectively to team members.
- Ensure Company Policy and Procedures are always adhered to with safety being our highest priority.
- Staff Induction Allocation as per site requirements and internal SHEQ requirements.
- Select and Identify Labour requirements as per project allocations.
- Identify & Select team members for training and development.
- Lead by example.
- Monitor and motivate team.
- Develop and Coach team.
- Manage SHEQ Requirements on Site:
- Conduct and record Toolbox Talks.
- Implementation of PPE identification as per site requirements and rules.
- Hazard and risk identification with safety being the highest priority.
- All site required documentation is completed and submitted accordingly.
- Communicate Safety requirements changes daily ensuring implementation to team members.
- Provide support in creating risk assessments.
- Report all accidents and incidents to safety officers and manager.
- Ensure that all controls are implemented as per risk assessment & identification of deviations with corrective actions.
- Perform scheduled task observations according to the plan.
- Ensure adherence to all established rules, procedures, and standards.
- Manage and Monitor Quality Control:
- Recognise quality risks in alignment with the QCP and risk assessment.
- Verify that all controls are effectively implemented.
- Examine relevant quality control aspects in accordance with the QCP.
- Detect non-conformances, address them, and report to manager accordingly.
- Ensure all documentation is completed as specified in the QCP and risk assessment.
- Maintain accurate records as outlined in the QCP and risk assessment.
- Approve hold points and final inspection stages.
- Confirm that equipment and materials are stored and maintained to achieve the desired outcomes.
- Guarantee the traceability of materials and equipment.
- Verify that inspection equipment is calibrated or validated to the required standards and maintain records.
- Report all customer complaints to the appropriate manager and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Administrative Duties:
- Attend Morning and Scheduled meetings.
- Attend Site Meetings.
- Follow the reporting systems to management by submitting monthly & weekly reports.
- Manage site required documentation.
- Housekeeping Duties:
- Manage and Control Wastage of Materials.
- Manage and Control allocated Equipment on site.
- Return signed out equipment to storeman for inspection.
- Make sure waste is disposed of properly and in compliance with legal requirements.
- Monitor and Report Faulty Equipment to storeman.
- Ensure Working area is tidy, and all equipment and material are properly organised.
