We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Plumber to join our facilities team. As a Maintenance Plumber, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plumbing systems throughout the premises, including performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install and repair piping systems, fixtures, and appliances (e.g., sinks, toilets, water heaters, and drains) in both commercial and residential buildings.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Perform regular inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plumbing systems, including pipes, drains, faucets, and toilets.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency plumbing calls, such as leaks, blockages, and other urgent repairs, ensuring minimum disruption to operations or services.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose plumbing issues and provide cost-effective solutions to resolve leaks, clogs, pressure problems, and other plumbing concerns.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks on plumbing systems to identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Code Compliance: Ensure that all plumbing installations and repairs comply with local plumbing codes and safety standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and parts replaced. Prepare reports for supervisors and managers as required.
- Collaboration: Work with other trades and departments to complete plumbing-related projects and maintain the building’s infrastructure.
- Customer Service: Interact with building occupants to explain repairs, answer questions, and offer guidance on maintenance and care of plumbing systems.
Job Requirements:
Educational & Certification Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational training in plumbing or a related field preferred.
- Plumbing Trade Qualification: (Red Seal or equivalent) as required by local regulations.
- Valid Driver’s License: Must be able to travel to various sites or locations as necessary.
- Certification: Knowledge of plumbing codes, building regulations, and SANS.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as a plumber, with a strong background in maintenance plumbing and repairs.
- Experience with both commercial and residential plumbing systems.
- Experience with pipefitting, welding, and various types of plumbing installations (e.g., water heaters, sprinkler systems, etc.).
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and repair techniques.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and technologies used for leak detection, pipe inspection, and pressure testing.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plumbing diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Solid understanding of water treatment, drainage systems, and hot water systems.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to plumbing and facility maintenance.
