We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join a dynamic established engineering client. The Project engineer will enjoy working with a dynamic team of enthusiastic engineers working under own initiative, excellent job satisfaction. The Project Engineer will receive a competitive salary of £40K with overtime £60K plus and superb opportunities to work worldwide full expenses paid. The Mechanical Project Engineer will also receive:-

The Role
- Role Working under own initiative, with support from our close-knit projects team as necessary, fulfilling “inception to completion” project engineering and management.
- Carrying out client liaison to fully identify detailed user requirement following receipt of order.
- Sourcing equipment from our own range of products and that of close partner companies, working with the client to establish working line layout and agreeing KPI’s, generate P&ID’s & PFD’s
- Supplier negotiations and equipment purchasing, project cost tracking and monitoring
- Conduct own internal fabrication quality and pre-assembly inspections and those with the client prior to despatch.
- Documentation gathering for manual compilation and training purposes.
- Finishing with on-site works from start of installation to hand-over to client including – Site supervision of all elements of installation works, working closely with key contractors for both mechanical and electrical build.
- Hands-on approach to commissioning, engineer/operator training and managing closure of snagging lists. #
- On larger projects you may be nominated “project leader” whereby you would be leading a small team of engineers plus health and safety manager on site working under CDM regulations.
The successful candidate can expect a typical split of approx. 60% office based activities and 40% on-site, although this split can vary depending on the scale and nature of job allocations made. Site involvement can vary from project to project but would typically involve 12 hour days 7 days/week; some projects involving 6 week install (single block), 1-2 weeks back in UK, 3 weeks commissioning, again varying depending on scale of works and specific customer requirements.
Candidate Skills/Experience
- HNC/HND qualification in engineering
- Ideally 3 years industry/field experience
- Good understanding of machinery processes and design - logical mind
- A good balance of pre-engineering experience and “hands-on” engineering aptitude
- Dynamic, enthusiastic and flexible approach and willing to travel (at times on extended durations)
- Excellent Commercial awareness
- Excellent people skills and clear communicator with the ability to form strong customer relationships
- Computer literate with working knowledge of the following:- Microsoft Project & Office range of programs
- Ideally AutoCAD conversant to support generation of P&ID’s, Layout modification and drawing interpretation when on-site
