Our Data & Insight team are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to join them in transforming raw data into meaningful information that can be used throughout the business to support process improvements.
Within this role you will extract, analyse and interpret large amounts of data from a range of sources, using algorithmic, data mining, artificial intelligence, machine learning and statistical tools.
Location: Hybrid, need to be within close proximity to either our Newcastle-under-Lyme (ST5) or Taunton (TA1) office.
Salary: £30,000pa - £40,000pa DOE
Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week
What you will be doing:
Build algorithms and design experiments to merge, manage, interrogate and extract data to supply tailored reports to colleagues, customers or the wider organisation
Use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to problems
Test data mining models to select the most appropriate ones for use on a project
Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results
Work closely with the business to identify issues and use data to propose solutions for effective decision making
Create clear reports that tell compelling stories about how customers or clients work with the business
Assess the effectiveness of data sources and data-gathering techniques and improve data collection methods
Horizon scan to stay up to date with the latest technology, techniques and methods
Conduct research to develop prototypes and proof of concepts
Look for opportunities to use insights/datasets/code/models across all functions in the organisation
Stay curious and enthusiastic about using algorithms to solve problems and enthuse others to see the benefit of your work.
What we need from you:
Experience of dealing with data within a growing organisation
Ability to deal with multiple projects and responsibilities across the business.
Being able to learn, adapt and work within in a fast-paced environment.
A degree in computer science, data science or other relevant mathematical or statistical competency.
Previous experience working as a Data Scientist is desirable
