The Planner plays a pivotal role in supporting the successful execution of complex projects within the demanding environment of the nuclear industry. You will leverage your in-depth understanding of project management methodologies, Primavera P6, scheduling principles, and nuclear industry regulations to develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure projects adhere to established timelines and milestones. Your focus on detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving will be crucial for optimising project plans, managing resource allocation, and ensuring clear communication and collaboration within the project team.
Day to day duties:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and critical path analyses, ensuring alignment with project objectives and resource constraints.
- Break down project deliverables into manageable tasks with defined durations, dependencies, and resource assignments.
- Utilise project management software, such as Primavera P6 to create and maintain accurate and up-to-date project schedules.
- Perform schedule impact assessments to understand the effects of risks, opportunities, issues, or scenarios on the project timelines, proposing mitigation strategies to minimise schedule delays.
- Conduct regular schedule performance reviews, identifying variances and taking corrective actions to ensure project remains on track.
- Proactively identify potential scheduling challenges and bottlenecks, developing solutions to optimise project execution efficiency.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between project team members, engineers, and other departments to ensure alignment with project schedules.
- Communicate schedule variances and changes to project stakeholders in a timely and transparent manner.
- Work collaboratively with the project manager to develop contingency plans and adapt schedules to address unforeseen circumstances.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and reliability in project schedules, fostering trust and transparent communication within the project team.
- Train and mentor team members on project scheduling tools and best practices, promoting a culture of proactive planning within the organisation.
- Stay up-to-date on evolving project management methodologies, scheduling software advancements, and nuclear industry regulations impacting project plans.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
- Track record of experience in project planning or scheduling, with experience in the nuclear industry (or another highly regulated sector) a strong plus.
- Demonstrated expertise in project scheduling techniques, project management software, and risk management principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address potential scheduling challenges.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy in project planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Possess a strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMBOK) and their application within the nuclear industry.
- Extensive knowledge of project scheduling techniques (e.g., Critical Path Method - CPM) and project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
- In-depth understanding of relevant nuclear industry regulations and standards impacting project execution and scheduling (e.g., 10 CFR 50 Appendix B).
- Familiarity with risk management principles and their application within project planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
