Cinco Engineering is looking for a SACPCMP Registered Safety Officer to join our team in Cape Town Harbour for a 3-month period. This position is immediately available.
Summary of the Job duties:
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety inspections, ensuring safety equipment and procedures are followed.
- Report safety violations and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate safety and health complaints, and implement safety policies and guidelines.
- Provide safety training, toolbox talks, and support on project sites.
- Assist in coaching, mentoring, and implementing HSE programs in the workshop.
- Stay updated on safety legislation and assist in auditing the Safety Management System.
- Provide HSE guidance to project managers, supervisors, and team leaders.
- Ensure prompt incident reporting and participate in incident investigations.
- Ensure new employee inductions and required documentation are completed.
- Maintain safety boards and conduct monthly inspections.
- Prepare for and participate in audits like ISO 45001.
- Communicate safety expectations and comply with relevant regulations, including OHS ACT 85 of 1993.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Profile
- Registered as SACPCMP.
- Minimum 3 years of health and safety field experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- The ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to company operations and activities.
- Medical fit and in good physical condition.
- Availability to travel.
- Occupational Health and Safety Diploma or Certificate e.g. SAMTRAC / Nebosh.
