Great British Nuclear (GBN) is a new government arm's length body supporting the delivery of Britain's energy security and net zero, making sure that we can power Britain from Britain sustainably. As the Policy Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting the Head of Advisory and Strategy and the Lead of Advisory and Strategy to fulfil GBNs role in supporting the development of the policy environment to deliver the UKs nuclear programme. This will include advising the UK government on the design and development of actions to that shape the nuclear programme and deliver GBNs long-term vision and objectives.
Day to day duties:
- Assist the Head of Strategy and Strategy Manager in collecting data and preparing evidence to inform and implement GBN's strategic delivery plan.
- Conduct policy research and analysis to shape and influence the landscape for implementing the nuclear programme in support of energy security and net-zero goals.
- Monitor changes in policy, industry, and regulations to ensure our plans remain aligned and understand their impacts.
- Prepare and analyse evidence for reports, policy positions, papers, and other communications for both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
- Coordinate internal and external multi-stakeholder engagement and prepare materials to support delivery.
- Help develop tools to monitor and evaluate the progress of strategic initiatives, making necessary adjustments for successful execution.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
- Understanding of the delivery of large, complex infrastructure projects and the economic, political, and social dynamics that shape them.
- Experience of the UK and global energy sector, including undertaking policy analysis, strategic planning, or data analysis.
- Practical experience of supporting evidence-based decision making and working with and influencing policy makers to design and deliver objectives.
- Communication skills to communicate ideas appropriately at all levels of the organisation, and with decision makers.
- Demonstrated ability to convert complex issues into easily understood analysis, reports, and presentations for diverse audiences, including non-experts;
- Strong organisational skills. Attention to detail is paramount.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in economics, environmental science, political science, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
