POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Human Resources Operations Manager, the successful incumbent will engage with all departments of the business. You will be responsible to assist HR leadership in building and sustaining positive internal and external relationships with associates, management, and external business partners. You will support the HR department and the business by performing a generalist role within the Human Resources discipline, including but not limited to HR Administration, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Employee Wellness Initiatives, and HR Projects in accordance with Marriott International policies and procedures and local law, whilst maintaining confidentiality as well as quality and standards of the Westin Cape Town Hotel within a pressurized environment.

Required Experience & Qualifications
- Degree/diploma qualification in Human Resources
- Practical experience, exposure to broad aspects of Human Resources within an HR environment essential
- Experience within a hotel HR environment preferable
- Excellent planning, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, and discretion essential when dealing with people
- Ability to multi-task and manage a demanding workload in a pressurized environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, interpersonal skills, telephone, and email etiquette
- Hardworking, can-do attitude, ambitious, ability to use initiative and be proactive
- Professional disposition
- Ability to work within a team and without supervision
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizing skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results
- Able to deal effectively with all levels of staff including senior management
- Extensive working knowledge in MS Office in all MS Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
Key Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, accurate administration, adherence to HR processes and practices, and perform HR-related duties as required.
- Assist and support the HR team as required
- Facilitate the recruitment process from start to end
- Assist managers with IR-related matters and related administration
- Co-ordinate and assist with disciplinary and grievance procedures
- Ensure employee files are aligned to BCEA requirements
- Facilitate onboarding or induction orientation as required
- Assist with the updating and maintenance of company policies and procedures as required
- Assist with monthly HR reporting
- Assist with accurate record keeping of HR information and statistics (i.e., staff turnover, employment equity, skills development, and training, etc.)
- Updating and maintenance of company systems and policies and other administration activities (i.e., job profiles, contracts, and letters to employees)
- Assist with Employee Wellness, culture, and appreciation initiatives
- Conduct onboarding and induction activities for new hires
- Ensure Job Descriptions are updated and maintained
- Maintain and validate all personnel records in HR Systems (mHUB)
- Assist with HR Audits
- Assist with HR-related projects as required
- Assist with staff transport submissions and invoice reconciliation when required
- Assist with Learning and Development and Employment Equity related functions and initiatives as required
- Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to
- Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments
