About the Position
SARS is looking for skilled candidates who are able to apply practical knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems, and procedures. The successful candidate should be able to apply applicable legislation, policies, and procedures when conducting audits. He/she must effectively plan and schedule their own activities to continuously improve quality and service delivery in PIRE Audit.
PIRE Segment provides end-to-end service to prominent individuals meeting the Segment criteria and their related entities. These individuals are influential and are subject to higher public scrutiny; therefore, greater due diligence is required in dealing with their tax matters. Understanding their nature of work, applicable legislation, level of compliance, and risk of non-compliance is important to determine SARS's approach in ensuring they comply voluntarily with their tax obligations (SARS strategic intent).
Job Purpose
To plan and conduct standard and moderate audits across multiple tax types and periods, understanding the risk implications across other tax types, under limited supervision, in compliance with all legislative requirements in PIRE Taxpayers.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification & Experience Required
Relevant National Diploma / Advanced Certificate (NQF 6) in Auditing/Taxation and/or Accounting AND 3-4 years' tax audit experience in all tax products (PAYE, VAT, CIT, PIT), of which 1-2 years at verification or compliance audit level.
ALTERNATE:
Senior Certificate (NQF 4) AND 6 years tax audit experience in all tax products (PAYE, VAT, CIT, PIT), of which 1-2 years at verification or compliance audit level.

- Be observant and engage on possible violations of procedures and standards of conduct and escalate where necessary.
- Conduct end-to-end query resolution relating to audits conducted, including finalisation of objections and appeals.
- Plan and organise own work tasks within area of work.
- Prepare and present submissions to interest and penalty committee.
- Protect local industries that could be affected by the illicit market, resulting in low revenue collection due to Fiscus.
- Take accountability for delivery of contracted work outputs within agreed parameters, quality standards, and client service targets.
- Accumulate information and provide reports with recommendations applicable to the area of specialisation.
- Apply practical and applied knowledge and act authoritatively on methods, systems, and procedures to identify trends and potential risks.
- Communicate situational interpretation and judgement of work outputs and queries in the area of specialisation.
- Correctly apply applicable legislation, including policies, procedures, and SOPs in the delivery of work outputs.
- Effectively plan and schedule own activities to continuously improve quality and service delivery in the area of specialisation.
- Execute process and procedural change, implement the change, and provide guidelines and support related to new requirements as a result of the change.
