Power BI Specialist, Somerset West, Western Cape

The role of BI Specialist will be to assist the Data Science team to plan, design and build Business Intelligence Solutions for client organisations.
The aim of these solutions will be to provide management with valuable strategic insights into their business and operations that ultimately lead to data driven decision making.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Translate client business needs into executable technical requirements.
- Extract, transform, and load datasets from various sources.
- Ensure effective data analysis.
- Explain data insights through visuals and make them compelling.
- Plan and participate in change management process design, training, and adoption support.
- Liaise with internal clients: Board of Directors, Head of Data Solutions, Management.
- Liaise with external clients.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems, or a similar field.
- A high potential graduate or individuals with limited experience (i.e., less than 2 years) in a similar role will also be considered.
- Experience in the fresh produce exports industry will be beneficial.
- Business Intelligence software experience, preferably Power BI.
- Comfortable with SQL database interactions, queries, and design.
- Ability to analyse data, draw insights, and prepare reports in a cohesive, intuitive, and simplistic manner.
- Professional proficiency in written and oral communication skills in English.
- Fully proficient skills with MS Office.
- Comfortable with either Python or R.
- Interest in machine learning techniques and algorithms.
- Exposure to the data science life cycle.
- Exposure to machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.
- Proven experience with data visualisation tools, such as D3.js, GGplot, etc.
- Able to work in a rapidly changing and evolving environment.
- Self-motivated and able to effectively prioritise and plan work.
- Ability to work effectively across a number of projects.
- A passion for the field of Data Science and the desire to grow and develop in this space.
- Solution focused.
